Our Guests of Honor
Charles Urbach is a writer and colored pencil artist with more than two decades of work in design, publishing, and illustration. His work explores fantasy, science fiction, and surrealistic imagery by drawing on a rich tradition of spiritual, literary, and mythological sources. Among Charles’ projects include miniatures designs for Wizkids: Heroclix, illustrations for “Magic: The Gathering,” “Legend of the Five Rings,” and artwork for many games including “Infinite City,” “Noble Treachery,” “A Game of Thrones,” “Star Wars,” “Call of Cthulhu,” and “Lord of the Rings,” among a multitude of others. His work has won awards at major conventions, including Gen Con, DragonCon, Origins, ConVergence, MarCon, and events across the world.
The Let’s Play Crew is thrilled to announce the first of our guest line up: Foam Corps! They are a group of veteran cosplays and crafters out of Madison, WI who are constantly surprising us with even bigger and better builds. They’ll be suiting up and showing off their work from Warhammer 40k, Diablo, Final Fantasy and more. They’re psyched to be coming out and have started planning some panels for both the seasoned cosplayer and any newbies who want to dive in: Come with questions, curiosity and your camera!
John Kaufeld is a mild-mannered superhero, leading the fight for better family communication and stronger parent-child connections.
He’s a best-selling author with close to 3 million books in print around the world, including 25 titles in the popular “For Dummies” line. John regularly speaks about impostor syndrome, group leadership, and communication for colleges and corporations. During 2017, he’ll be featured in the book “Dadly Dads: Fathers of the 21st Century.”
He has an M.A. in Professional Communication from Purdue University, with a focus on family and small group communication. Despite everything, he still thinks he can change the world. So there.
Jolly began his journey writing about games and those who play them in SHADIS, the award winning games magazine he launched out of an upstairs bedroom in 1990.
Best known as the creator of monthly gamer comic book, Knights of the Dinner Table, Jolly (who is vice president of KenzerCo) readily admits that the gaming comic was something of a ‘creative burp’. Nearly 250 issues later and nearly 60 trade paperbacks the comic has consumed his life.
Jolly is a co-writer/developer on HackMaster (Game of the Year 2001) and Aces and Eights the old west RPG (RPG of the year 2007).
Let’s Play is proud to welcome Margaret Weis to our 2017 events! Weis is one of the original creators of the Dragonlance game world.
Margaret Weis is the author/co-author of several other New York Times best-selling series, including DARKSWORD, ROSE OF THE PROHET, STAR OF THE GUARDIANS, THE DEATHGATE CYCLE, and DRAGONSHIPS. Weis and her daughter, Lizz, have written two paranormal romance novels, WARRIOR ANGEL and REBEL ANGEL, published by Daw. Her newest world is written with co-author, Robert Krammes – The Dragon Brigade. SPYMASTER, is the first volume in the new series, Dragon Corsairs, which just published on March 21, 2017.
